Did you know that women and non-binary people currently make up just 26% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)? Given the vast range of exciting careers within these fields, shouldn’t we ensure that everyone has access to these opportunities, and see themselves represented in these industries? At STEM Women, we certainly think so.

STEM Women’s events give students the perfect chance to connect with leading employers in STEM-related industries, and be inspired by diverse role models – and we’re coming to a city near you!

The Birmingham STEM Women Graduate Careers Event sponsored by Jaguar Land Rover is a FREE event that gives you the chance to discover new opportunities in STEM. With exhibitors like JCB, Ark Teacher Training, Capital One, Siemans and many more on board, this event will provide insights, connections, and opportunities to support your career goals.

Date: Wednesday, 25th October 2023 Time: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm GMT Location: Edgbaston Stadium

A FREE coach will provide transport from Warwick campus coach park

5 reasons to attend the Birmingham STEM Careers Event

1. Connect In-Person

Meet industry professionals and make a lasting impression as you chat to recruiters from some of the leading employers in tech, engineering, consultancy and financial services.

Whilst this might seem nerve-wracking, remember that many of the recruiters are recent graduates themselves – they know what it feels like to be in your shoes. They are at the event to meet students just like you, and they’ll be happy to discuss your career aspirations and offer guidance, even if you’re not quite sure yet exactly what you want to do after graduation.

2. Explore the Exhibitors

Actemium, Colas Rail, GKN Aerospace, Glide and Mainfreight are just a few of the companies who will be present to showcase their work, values, and, most importantly, their opportunities for students and graduates. By attending this event, you’ll get to explore these organisations, ask questions and discover more about their company cultures.

This firsthand knowledge is invaluable when it comes to making informed career decisions.

3. Apply for Opportunities

Many of the exhibiting companies will be actively recruiting. If you’re graduating this year, now is the time to start thinking about applications. If you’re not a final year student, there are still lots of opportunities out there for you to gain crucial work experience – such as internships, work placements and insight days. Whatever you’re looking, for, this event will give you the inside track!

4. Be Inspired

Listen to insight talks and a panel discussion where women in STEM-related industries will share their career journeys, tips and guidance, and discuss some of the most pressing issues in industry today. From CEOs to recent graduates, our speakers are diverse role models who will inspire you to follow in their footsteps.

5. Support Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity is not just a buzzword; it’s a driving force behind innovation and progress in STEM. This event celebrates the power of inclusivity and the strength that comes from bringing together individuals with a shared goal. It’s crucial that we break down barriers for women and non-binary people in STEM.
