Woman Lead Meeting

Women could reach parity in senior corporate leadership roles by 2030, according to an S&P Global analysis of companies listed on the Russell 3000 index. But the bulk of those gains will come in the boardroom rather than the C-suite.

S&P Global models show women reaching parity in senior leadership roles, meaning 50% representation, between 2030 and 2037, due in part to slowed pandemic-related growth in the ranks of women in leadership roles. At the end of 2021, women held about 22% of board and C-suite roles at companies in the Russell 3000, the research shows.

While the study shows that the U.S. is making progress on the gender gap, the still country trails many of its European counterparts. For example, a 2011 French law mandates a minimum 40% representation for women on corporate boards, and the most recent data shows that 46% of these roles in France are filled by women.
