Actfore, a provider of AI- and machine learning-powered data mining for cyber breach incident response, has spun off from data privacy and governance software provider ActiveNav to become an independent company, the firm announced. Virginia-based Actfore also secured an $8 million investment from Gresham House Ventures to support its expansion in the incident response marketplace.

The spin-off allows Actfore, founded in 2022, to focus exclusively on providing rapid, on-shore data analysis for legal counsel, insurance carriers and corporations dealing with cyber incidents, the company said. The company’s technology combines AI/ML tools with expertise in sensitive data discovery to assess compromised information quickly and accurately.

“This spin-off allows us to focus entirely on the unique challenges faced by organizations dealing with cyber incidents,” said Christian Geyer, CEO and founder of Actfore.
