US Bank recently announced that it has hired Guillaume Mascoto, the former head of ESG at Jennison Associates, to create a new head of sustainable finance at the company.
In this role, Mascotto is tasked with building a team with a broad focus on US Bank’s sustainable finance business. Mascotto is based in New York and reports directly to Zack Boyers, CEO of US Bancorp Community Development Corp.
“Customers across US Bank are increasingly telling us about sustainable financial products and services that help them achieve their social and environmental goals,” Boyers said in the announcement. “Under Guillaume’s leadership, this new team will engage all our business lines to meet the sustainable financial needs of our clients.”
Sustainable finance operations include “lending and investment activities that empower communities, support inclusive growth and help clients transition to a low-carbon economy,” the company said.
The new team will also help the bank meet its ESG commitments, including net-zero targets, the company said.
Mascotto has previous experience overseeing ESG at other companies. Prior to Jennison Associates, he was Head of ESG and Investment Stewardship at American Century Investments. He also served as vice president of Pimco, where he was president of ESG Credits, where he was responsible for research and portfolio management.
