Recently, I had the opportunity to chat with several individuals who participated in Citi’s nationally recognized Summer Analyst Program. In our conversation, Citi’s three of her Summer Analysts reveal what they did to secure their positions at Citi and build a bright future.
Fine tune your resume
Before you can land a Summer Analyst role at Citi you need to secure an interview, but before that you need to make sure your resume shines. So first and foremost in the application process The thing to do is make sure your resume is in top shape.
If your resume isn’t up to date or doesn’t look good, recruiters will have a hard time marking your application as approved. Think about it.
“My first belief when going into the resume process was not to include school projects or projects I thought were small. But what I learned was the exact opposite.” You should always consider smaller projects, as individuals may find certain skills they have utilized in projects that are not on their resume.”

To take their proposal a step further, I recommend preparing your resume by breaking down each experience by the skills you used. Ask yourself – are these skills relevant to the job I am applying for? Are they valuable skills? Are these experiences and the skills that come with them worth having on your resume?

As networking methods diversify, so do the opportunities for early-career professionals to make connections that can advance their careers.
No matter which network you choose, whether it’s LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, or WayUp, two things to keep in mind are authenticity and speed.They may not have been outspoken, but everyone we spoke to in interviews made it a point to never ask for anything in return when pursuing new contacts. Introduce yourself and keep the conversation consistent over time.
Starting a conversation with a request for advice, more contacts, work, etc., often displaces itself quickly, making the subsequent conversation transactional and inauthentic.
Either way, you have something to offer your new contact, but joining on a neutral ground is always the best way to start a conversation.
Once you’re confident you can keep things real, you need to get up and reach out as much as possible. This speed factor isn’t always considered by many experts, but former Citi Summer Analyst explains Things make perfect sense when you do.
It would be great if we could reach out to people who started early, especially in finance. Financial professionals like to develop their talents early. That doesn’t mean they aren’t looking back, but the sooner you start, the sooner you can get into the industry.

Find opportunities on campus
One of the most common mistakes college students make is not using all the resources available on campus. Those seeking these resources, especially those provided by the Career Services Department, often take a direct path to thriving employment opportunities.
This is especially true when it comes to Citi, which has a very large campus presence. One of the main ways Citi remains active in colleges and universities across the country is its early ID program.
After hearing about this on-campus mentoring program from several alumni at her school, a former City Summer Analyst decided to apply for it to learn new skills and grow professionally. I was. I wasn’t sure if her job would come from there, but she took the chance, took the job and is now a contributing member of Citi’s Private Banking Division.
In another example, a former Citi Summer Analyst and current Campus Ambassador used the Campus Events bulletin board to reach out and start learning about new opportunities.
I used the campus job board. There you can see different events happening on your campus and different companies coming up. I decided to attend as many events as my schedule allowed. how to prepare for an interview
If you can shine that resume, make the most of your connections, and make the most of the resources you have access to, you’re very likely to make it through the interview process. This is probably one of the most important steps in the process. Especially when it comes to Citi’s Summer Analyst Program.
Subject to change, we understand that the City Summer Analyst Program interviews consist of two parts: behavioral and technical. This means that you should be able to answer questions about both comprehension and knowledge, while also providing reactive and contextual assessments.
There’s no way to know for sure what a recruiter or interviewer is going to ask. So the best way to prepare is to educate yourself and rehearse as much as possible.
To improve my behavioral interviewing skills, I conducted mock interviews with several families. I also watched a lot of his YouTube videos on what to say and what to focus on when being interviewed.

One thing that is consistent among the three former Summer Analysts we interviewed is how they approached the Summer Analyst application process at Citi. They each approached it with an open mind and an open mind about what the process looked like and how it would benefit them.
One former Summer Analyst joined Citi to gain experience, learn new skills and grow professionally. She never had to think that she would pursue a career at City.
If you pursue a job just because you want to work, you tend to lose your passion. But if you pursue your career with the intention of learning and growing yourself, you can get more. The former Summer Analyst we are referring to became one of the few Summer Analysts to have an extended offer for the two-year rotation program she is currently embarking on.
One former Citi Summer analyst kept an open mind when it came to interviewing at Citi. He never expected it to go either way. He didn’t practice a prearranged plot structure. He just stayed genuine and armed with as much information as possible.

When I came to Georgetown, my freshman year, I wasn’t sure what career path I wanted to take. A Citi recruiter asked me to apply for a sophomore leadership program. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go into finance, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to apply and see where I was going. Maybe I will like it. So I did and ended up being named Summer Analyst for Wealth Management!
